COURSE OVERVIEW

The purpose of this course is to balance different types of cost in a way that minimizes the total cost of an activity.

 

TARGET AUDIENCE

All employees. EOQ analysis is a "foundation" course for managers & anyone in an analyst role. The skills learned are useful in making policy and economic decisions.

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

By completing this course, participants will be able:

 

ü      To identify different types of cost and how management decisions affect those costs.

ü      To use graphic and algebraic methods of determining the decision that will minimize total costs.

ü     To apply these methods to minimize costs for such diverse activities as purchasing, training, investing idle cash, and maintaining equipment.

 

DIFFICULTY LEVEL 

Easy.   As with break-even analysis, there are algebraic and graphical techniques for finding the solution to problems.  Don’t sweat it if you can’t remember algebra.  This module will explain everything you need to do to reach a solution.

 

Aids needed to do the exercises 

Either a small calculator with a square root function and a few sheets of graph paper or an electronic spreadsheet, such as Excel, Lotus, or QuatroPro.
